You're gonna do WHAAAAAT????

Monday Oct 15, 2007 10:27:00 PM

I overheard my mom talking to my vet earlier about getting me "fixed" soon. That was a real puzzler to me because doesn't something need to be broken to be fixed?? I don't think I'm broken...well, sometimes my mom thinks I've popped a screw loose in the head when I'm being extra goofy... but I don't think that's fixable and that's another story. Imagine my surprise (and HORROR) when I learned what getting "fixed" meant. I said WHAAAAAT??? You're gonna do WHAAAAAAT???? Oh no...*hiding my face in shame*

[Mom's note: Well, as a responsible mom I really have to get Hunter neutered and soon. Hunter is a purebred golden retriever with fourteen red marks on his pedigree certificate. To any other person, Hunter would be a prime candidate for stud services because of it. However, I'm not in the business of breeding and I firmly believe that this should be left to the professionals who practice proper and selective breeding solely for the love of and betterment of the breed. I'm totally against puppy mills and other backyard breeders out to make a quick buck without regard to genetics and the other considerations that go into proper breeding. Besides, research shows that early neutering and spaying of goldens tend to reduce their risks of getting certain cancers and other diseases like pyometra for female goldens. Having your beloved golden neutered or spayed early generally translates into a longer life span for them. Shouldn't that be good enough reason to get your golden (or any other pet for that matter) fixed?]
