The Kin Story
Friday Jun 22, 2007 01:01:00 AM
Long ago a beautiful princess lost her Best Friend. The princess was very sad, and she searched far and wide for a perfect gold-colored furball whom she could hug and who would make her smile the way her old best friend (turned Guardian Angel) used to.
The princess's best friend was a GSD, but alas, all the GSD pups she met (while themselves cuddly and loveable) were black. She was looking for a grey-colored GSD pup, cause she knew that such pups would grow into brilliant sable (or as she saw it, gold) beauties just like the one she had lost. She was about to give up when a Wise Woman told the Queen (the Princess' mum) that she might want to look a little further past Germany, to the United Kingdom, home of an equally noble breed. The Golden Retriever.
So the Queen issued a royal edict, searching for the goldest fluffiest funniest charmingest Golden Retriever who could win her daughter's (fiercely loyal to the GSD breed) heart.
The family of Muffy (a goldret who had just been blessed with a litter of 5 golden fluffy furballs) heard about this royal edict. So one day, my sister Mira & I (the 2 goldest and fluffiest of the bunch) ventured forth, hoping one of us could win the Princess over. We traveled far across the land to be inspected personally by the Queen. (Well alright. Maybe not so far. Just from Bulacan to Quezon City. But that's a mighty long journey if you're only 5 weeks old you know!)

When we were presented to the Queen, Mira was a trifle shy, but *I* was determined to win! I confidently walked right up into the Queen's arms and showed off my very best trick. It's called The Snuggle. I also threw in a couple of tricks called The Nuzzle, and when I gave her my brightest bright-eyed smile, Her Royal Highness was reduced to mush. The deal was made, and I rode her golden carriage to my new home, to meet the rest of my new family.
I was especially excited to meet the sad Princess, cause I knew it was my job to make her smile again.
That was long long time ago (5 months to be exact,) and now, here I am! I have long since outgrown my playpen, so the entire palace is my playpen! I love it here, I have many friends! The King, the Queen, their 2 royal sons, the royal extended family, my yayas, my Ate Suki (who is very wise, and came all the way from China! Or so she says,) and more importantly, there's my bestest bestfriend in the whole entire world...Princess Nicole who isn't sad anymore :) And I know it's all because of me :)
We play together everyday, she spoils me terribly with treats and toys, she's always telling me how beautiful and I am, and marvelling about my perfect black nose and golden eyelashes!
She also tells me stories about my readymade Guardian Angel Skye who watches over both of us from the Rainbow Bridge. She reminds me everyday that Skye is my rolemodel, and that should grow up to be as serene, well-mannered and behaved as she was.
If you ask me, that's a pretty tall order for a Goldret puppy! There's just so much to see and smell and taste, so many places to explore, so many people and things to play with, so much wallpaper to chew, and couches to dig in! Who has time for manners and serenity??! But I do my very best, cause I want Princess Nicole to be happy and smiling always :D
Though that's kinda hard now cause of Prince Carlo. He's *supposed* to be my daddy, but I'm mad at him, cause he's made the Princess sad again >:c Bad boy Prince Carlo >:c
Anyway moving on, Queen Mum also has a *very* special place in my heart. She's the one who takes care of me and plays with me on most mornings (while Princess Nicole is still out cold and ignoring her alarm clock,) cause my energy level rises with the sun! I love to run and jump and play! I know that she (Queen Mum) is very happy with her decision to take me home, and that she loves me very very much. Though occasionally, she *does* wonder what it would have been like if she had chosen quiet Mira instead. (Especially during those times she catches me chewing on the wallpaper, the baseboards, and jumping up and down on tables and sofas.)
But I'm just so beautiful and fun, that everyone loves me! Even the vets fall all over me when I visit them to get my shots :-> (though maybe that's cause I pretend to be *such* a good girl when I go to the vet, I sit quietly and let them cut my nails and clean my ears and give me pills and pet and coo to me, heehee.)
So, that's my story :D Isn't it just epic? And I'm only 5months old!
